Alhaji Balogun begs Ogun State Government to make land available for members

On Wednesday 18th of November, 2020, Ogun State Cooperative Federation Limited (OGSCOFED) held Ogun State Cooperative Stakeholders’ Meeting on National Social Housing Program at OGSCOFED Building Complex, Cooperative House, Asero, Abeokuta, Ogun State

The President of OGSCOFED Limited, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulrazaaq Ola Balogun FHNR, CBD in his welcome address said “On behalf of the Board of Director of Ogun State Cooperative Federation Limited and the entire members of Ogun State Cooperative Movement, I welcome all our special guests to the Gateway State of Nigeria and all our Stakeholders to this special meeting in the name of Almighty Allah/God and I thank Allah/God for granting you all journey mercies to our dear State. It is our prayer that you will also enjoy similar grace of Allah/God for your journey mercies back to your various destination at the end of the meeting.”

He also welcome all stakeholders, delegates from the nooks and cranmies of Ogun State, and also Government functionaries to the meeting which he regard as first of its kind during my administration, if not since the inception of our State Federation in 1976.

He continued in his welcome address that “the Federal Government have always been floating many social program for the masses, to the best of my knowledge, I have not heard of one specially made for Cooperative Movement in the past like this one.

Now, that our Federal Government is recognizing the importance of Cooperative as tools to drive her programs to the masses, thank God for the determination and seriousness of the new Board of the Cooperative Federation of Nigeria under the leadership of High Chief Tajudeen Oriyomi Ayeola to reposition the Cooperative Movement to her rightful places in Nigeria. I urge us to embrace the program with all seriousness and thereby prevent the money bags from hijacking it.

One of the three necessities and needs in life is housing, others are feeding and clothing. Whether you are rich or poor, the three needs are compulsory for a living. The Federal Government realizing these three basic needs with the belief that providing them through Cooperative Movement their desires will be easily and quickly achieved.

That is why we are all here today to express our desire to embrace the Cooperative Social Housing program, passed through the Cooperative Federation of Nigeria, Family Homes Fund Limited and Cooperative Mortgage Bank for implementation.

This meeting is a follow up to the workshop held on the 17th of September, 2020 by all the State Cooperative Federation Presidents, their Executive Secretaries and State Directors of Cooperatives where all the trio from our State were in attendance and also the South west Cooperative Stakeholders meeting held on Thursday, 8th October, 2020 at Obisesan hall, Ibadan in order to fast track the program in our various States.

There are lots of benefits to be achieved by members of our Moevement in the State as will be expantiated by the implementing bodies of CFN, Family Homes and Cooperative Mortgage Bank in due course.

Meanwhile, one reason that is causing delay in our members decision in embracing the program is the land provision request condition from our State, as we are finding it unpraticable to have a land of the size requested by the program facilitators.

In view of this and before ending the address, I should like to implore the Permanent Secretary of our Ministry who is representing Ogun State Government at this meeting to please make case for our Movement with His Excellency, Prince (Dr). Dapo Abiodun MFR, the Executive Governor of our dear State to make land available for the program in each of the three Senatorial Districts of our State for easy accessibility of our members.”
